The Windsor barber. He came to Windsor by 1646. On 28 Nov 1663 the town granted him a strip of land "in the Palizado, to build him a shop upon, to barber in, and he has now built it"; his barber's bowl of coarse delft, with a notch for the customer's neck and the date 1663, was kept by his descendants, and Stiles pictures it (source). In March 1663/4 "The Church of Christ at Windsor complaynes of James Enoe and Michaell Humphrey," and the General Court declared their practices "offensiue"; that October he signed, with Michael Humphrey and five others, a petition asking for a minister who would baptize their children (source). "1665. May 11. Jas. Enno was fined for his wife's fault, in selling cider to the Indians." He married three times: Anna, probably the widow of Richard Bidwell, in 1648; Elizabeth, widow of Thomas Holcombe, in 1658; and Hester (Williams) Eggleston in 1680.

A modern claim makes him Jacques Hennot, baptized in 1625 at the French church in Threadneedle Street, London; it is unproven, and Stiles called the French tradition "worthless."
