Husband of Ella Persis Chapin. A Chicago lumber dealer in Michigan pine, with an office in the Chamber of Commerce; president of the Edward Browne Lumber Co. and an elder of the Second Presbyterian Church (1907). With Ella's brother Robert L. Chapin and two others he was a partner in the Browne-Chapin Lumber Co., and by 1905 he had been "adjudged a bankrupt." Ella's father, Dr. Marvin Chapin, lived with them in Chicago and at Lake Park, near Lake Forest, where he died in 1907; they were later at Lake Bluff (source, source). Nothing was found on his Irish origin; his dates are the tree's.
The Chapin genealogy says he and Ella had no children; see Henrietta Browne.
