Priscilla Newcomb

Second wife of Deacon Elisha Holbrook, married at Wellfleet in 1771. After his death in 1779 she administered his intestate estate, complained that his son Eliphalet was holding five bushels of salt and other goods of the estate, and on 11-18 June 1779 was made guardian of the minor children Daniel, Sarah, Joseph and Ezekiel. Only about two pounds remained after debts, and the estate was settled on her.

She is not Gideon’s mother: Gideon was born about 1765, while Elisha’s first wife Sarah Mayo was living. Mollie’s typescript has a Newcomb line, but attaches it to her “Mary Mayhew.”
