About it
The account of the U.S. marshal George W. Corliss, a guest in the Ebeys’ house on the night of 11 Aug 1857, written at Olympia a week later: “We were entirely defenseless, there being no fire-arms of any description in the house,” and Isaac Ebey “was seen by his wife with one hand to his head. She cried out to him to jump into the house through the window, but he did not seem to hear or notice her.”
