"New Bedford from a Whaleman's Point of View," 1861
About it
The wharf at New Bedford, the whaling capital, crowded with casks of oil under seaweed, a coopers’ gang at work and a whale ship lying off. Richard Holbrook signed on here for the Hydaspe in April 1841 and for the Globe in September 1845, and came home here in April 1845 and August 1850.
