The Capt. Eli Hathaway house, San de Fuca
About it
The house of Capt. Eli Hathaway at San de Fuca, photographed for the Historic American Buildings Survey in the 1930s. Hathaway sailed with Richard Holbrook into Penn Cove in 1852, went with him into the salmon and trading business on Lummi Island in 1854, and was robbed the same night; in 1871 he took the census that counted the Holbrooks, and in 1881 he swore to his old partner’s claim that “I have always regarded Mr. Holbrook as an honorable gentleman.”
