About it

Two days from the diary kept at the Ebey house on the prairie by the west shore of Whidbey Island, in the summer Richard took up his claim at the head of Penn Cove. On 3 June 1852, with the onions being weeded and a schooner anchoring at Port Townsend, “Mr Howe and Holbrooks called in.” On 12 August, with Isaac Ebey away, “Samuel Crockett, Mr. Smith Mr. Howe and Mr. Holbrook were all here in the forenoon. All very anxious to hear the news from Mr. Ebey.”
