Read from the Internet Archive's OCR, 12 Oct 2026. Duff Pattullo, now in opposition: Sumas "had been well worth reclaiming and even if the general public had to pay part of the cost the project was for the general welfare"; but settlers on logged-off land should not be taxed "to allow Sumas owners to make a profit that they had done nothing to create." (The Attorney General had admitted on 7 March 1928 that the engineer's estimates "had proved badly out.") See Duff Pattullo, 22nd Premier of British Columbia: what did he get right, and what did he get wrong?.
