"Hubert Flynn, eleven-year-old grandson of Justice of the Peace Flynn, after two operations at St. Joseph's Hospital, and treatment extending over a period of four months, is finally pronounced out of danger. Last May the boy was bitten on the finger by a rat. Blood poisoning developed, and for some time it was feared he would die."

The justice of the peace is James M. Flynn, appointed in February 1911 ("Justice Shea Resigns on Account of Ill Health and Brother Democrat Is Named," St. Joseph, Missouri, 15 Feb 1911), Hubert's grandfather.
