Read from the archive's OCR text, 12 Oct 2026. On the bridge: "The sum of $4,000,000 was voted by the Legislature to build the bridge"; the Act "laid down that tolls must be collected"; as part of the national highway it should have half its cost from Ottawa, and if so "the bridge will be a free bridge." On roads: bond sales at low interest allowed "a more extensive programme than heretofore," with joint Dominion-provincial programmes in 1936 and 1937; he would not set up a highway commission. Youth training: $100,000 each from Ottawa and the province. See Duff Pattullo, 22nd Premier of British Columbia: what did he get right, and what did he get wrong?.
