From the research file (McMillan Frost Master Research, October 2026). Sarah Underhill (b. 1761), wife of George Frost, daughter of Thomas Underhill and Mercy Dickinson, descended through Benjamin and David (b. 1672) from Capt. John Underhill and Elizabeth Feake. Her marriage on 26 Dec 1781 is in the Nine Partners Quaker records.
Since read in the archive.org full text of vols. 1 and 2 (vol. 1 at https://archive.org/details/underhillgenealo01fros; October 2026, The Long Island Quaker families of the Frost line). Published privately by Myron C. Taylor for the Underhill Society of America. It quotes the Friends' records of Flushing, Westbury and Purchase, deeds and will abstracts, and letters of George W. Cocks; dates are given as "day, month, year" in Quaker style ("20, 6, 1733").
- Capt. John Underhill (vol. 1, pp. 29-32; vol. 2, pp. 1-4, 18-19): son, by the book's chart, of John and Honor (Leonora) (Pawley) Underhill; "born in England, traditionally in 1597"; married at The Hague, 12 Dec 1628, Heylken (Helena) de Hooch (Dutch records translated, 2:2); his career in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Netherland and Long Island; second marriage, "Before January, 1659" (2:19), to "Elizabeth, born in 1633, probably in Watertown, Mass., daughter of Lieut. Robert and Elizabeth (Fownes-Winthrop) Feake. She died in Killingworth, L. I., before Nov. 4, 1675" (2:1); died "in Killingworth, Oyster Bay ... 21, 7, 1672, as per the Flushing records of the Friends" (2:1). The children of the second marriage, "taken from the Flushing Quaker Records": Deborah 29, 9, 1659; Nathaniel 22, 12, 1663; Hannah 2, 10, 1666; Elizabeth 2, 5, 1669; "David, born 2 mo., 1672" (2:4).
- David Underhill (vol. 2, pp. 74-79, No. 9): "born 2nd month, 1672, as per the Friends' records of Flushing, L. I., which state no day. He died in 1708." His two wives are a theory of George W. Cocks: the first a "supposed daughter of Gideon and Elizabeth (Townsend) Wright," the second Hannah, supposed daughter of Moses and Hannah (Crooker) Forman, a theory "evolved" from "this slight clue." Cocks's letter: "Our knowledge of names of David Underhill's children is alike, indirect and fragmentary. The Deed of Gift before mentioned certainly fixes Peter as one of them and the appearance on the Oyster Bay records of the names of Benjamin and Samuel Underhill as property holders in the vicinity of Peter's grant, and the certainty that Benjamin and Samuel were not the descendants of John places them as children of David." The deed of gift of 1700 to his son Peter reserves a life interest "to my now wife Hannah, should she outlive me." David's deeds in the Oyster Bay records, 1690-1699.
- Benjamin Underhill (vol. 2, pp. 94-95, No. 41): "son of (9) David and Hannah (Forman) Underhill, married, 29, 3, 1728, Hannah, daughter of Thomas and Sarah (Pearsall) Townsend. The Westbury Friends' Records state their first intentions of marriage, dated 27, 1, 1728, and second, 24, 2, 1728; accomplished, 29, 3, 1728." "Thomas Townsend of Concord, Chester County, Pa., made his will 6 mo., 13, 1732, which was proven Oct. 20, 1732, in which he mentions wife Sarah and among other children his daughter, Hannah Underhill; also land on Long Island and in Westchester County, N. Y. (Chester County, Pa., Wills, 1714-1758, Liber A, p. 384.)" Benjamin "in 1738 ... acknowledged too much strong drink, and again in 1740, when he was disowned for it." Hannah's removal certificate to Purchase, "3, 30, 1763 ... 'having removed there some years ago. Her children included but not named.'"
- Thomas Underhill (vol. 2, pp. 138-139, No. 145): "son of (41) Benjamin and Hannah (Townsend) Underhill, was born June 6, 1735, and married Mercy, born 20, 6, 1733, daughter of Zebulon and Joyce (Hance) Dickinson. His children are named below, as taken from the Friends' Records of Purchase, N. Y. His wife at times is called 'Mary.' He died in 1801 in Clinton, Dutchess County"; among the children "498 Sarah, born 6, 4, 1761." His will, "15, 10 mo., 1800, which was proven Dec. 4, 1801, and recorded in Poughkeepsie, N. Y., Liber B, p. 292. He mentions: Wife Mary, son Joel, daughter Deborah; Thomas Frost; son and daughter of daughter, Hannah Frost; daughters Sarah, Easter, Mary, Elizabeth." Deborah Underhill's will, "8, 11 mo., 1801," names "sisters, Sarah Frost, Esther Cornell, Mary Halsted and Elizabeth Titus." Zebulon Dickinson and Joyce Hance "were married in Shrewsbury, N. J., March 5, 1733 (Stillwell's N. J. Miscellany, Vol. 1, p. 273)"; their known children Mercy (1733), Zebediah, Hannah and Deborah.
- Sarah Underhill (vol. 2, No. 498): "born April 6, 1761, and married 26, 12, 1781, George, born March 11, 1760, son of Isaac and Mary (Cock) Frost of Nine Partners ... at Creek Meeting House by Friends Ceremony ... recorded in the Nine Partners Quaker Records."
