A compiled genealogy of the Knowles family of Eastham, cited in the Ancestry tree (through Ancestry's "U.S., Family History Books") for Capt. John Holdershaw, born at Eastham 18 Jun 1735, died at Frankfort, Maine, 7 May 1807, whom the tree makes the father of Hope (Holdershaw) Ellingwood. Not seen here.
The Cape Cod research (Cape Cod ancestry of Hope Holdershaw and Hannah Brown, October 2026) read the relevant pages in the open text of the Margaret Bready Genealogy Collection (https://archive.org/details/margaretbreadygebrea_8): "Martha, b. 28 Jan. 1713/14; m. in 1729 John Shaw of Eastham. Martha married 2nd Samuel Wright. They lived in Hartford, Conn. Both died East Haddam, Conn. ... Shaw children: a. George, b. 15 Sept. 173_. b. Martha, b. 1 Apr. 1733. c. John, b. 18 June 1735. Perhaps others" (p. 30). Hufbauer does not identify this John with John Holdershaw, and a full-text search of the book finds no "Holdershaw"; the identification is the tree's own.
