A late compiled county history of family sketches, without sources.
Cited for King Philip's War (research/king-philips-war/), as the only source for Joshua Raymond's
wound: in its Raymond sketches he "died ... 1676, supposedly from the effects of a wound received in the
Great Swamp fight," and elsewhere "His death, which [occurred] April 24, 1676, was due to the effects of
a [wound] received in the great swamp fight." The same book makes him "commissary of troops in the Pequot
war." The colony records show him as the army's commissary at New London in 1675-76 (PRCC 2:384,
405-406), not as a soldier.
