Read 10 Oct 2026. The Pattullo government's Health Insurance Act (1936) and its abandonment: "By 19 February [1937] Pattullo had ordered Weir to postpone indefinitely the implementation of the scheme," under the doctors' and business opposition; a plebiscite followed, and when he was later warned that the Liberals would lose Vancouver without it, "Pattullo was not convinced." See Duff Pattullo, 22nd Premier of British Columbia: what did he get right, and what did he get wrong?.
