A family-society answer on Isaac Howland (1649-1723/4), son of John Howland and Elizabeth Tilley: he settled at Middleborough on land his father left him and was "very prominent in the early settlement of Middleborough"; surveyor of highways (1672), member of the grand inquest (1682), deputy (1689-91); and, it says, lieutenant to Col. Benjamin Church in the raids of August 1676. Church's own narrative names Jabez Howland as his lieutenant. Compiled.
