note
"Mrs. Prudence Lewis," his third wife; Marvin (1904) takes her to be the "Mrs. Prudence Marvin" who later married James Ely of Lyme.

Capt. Timothy Marvin of Lyme, third son of Capt. Elisha Marvin and Catharine Mather. Like his father he was a captain in the militia. He "owned the covenant" in the third or North Society of Lyme (Hamburg) on 17 Oct 1787, and on 20 Jan 1793 "renewed it and joined in full communion" (source).

He married three times: Sarah Perkins in 1765, the mother of all twelve of his children; Azubah (Harvey), widow of Capt. Micah Sill, in 1796; and Mrs. Prudence Lewis. The children, all born at Lyme: Lucy (1766), Pickett (1768), Asahel (1769), Timothy (1771), Sarah (1773), Huldah (1775), Seth Perkins (1777), Abijah (1779), Catharine (1781), Calvin (1784), Elizabeth (1786) and Mather (1789). Seth Perkins Marvin, a physician, "went to Cuba to study the yellow fever, of which he died," at sea on the Hope, 23 April 1799, coming home from Havana. Pickett went to Ohio, Timothy and Elizabeth to northwestern Pennsylvania (source).

His brothers were Dea. Elisha Marvin, father of Congressman Dudley Marvin; Enoch, grandfather of Bishop Enoch Mather Marvin; Gen. Elihu Marvin, brigade major at Valley Forge; and Joseph, who had their father's farm and his "silver-hilted sword."

Research: Notable connections of Patricia Hatten (1940-2009): the paternal Hatten line.
