- note
- Philip's first wife was dead by his second marriage in Jan 1653/4, so Rebecca, born c. 1656/7, was Mary's daughter.
Daughter of Philip Delano's second marriage, to Mary (Pontus) Glass. Wife of Sgt. John Churchill Jr. (married 28 Dec 1686: "John CHURCHILL married Rebekah DELLENO") and mother of Elizabeth (Churchill) Ellis. Her husband was her first cousin: both were grandchildren of William Pontus.
On 1 Oct 1661 Abraham Peirce Jr. apologised in court for having "follishly and vnadvisedly reported" that Rebeckah Alden and Hester Delanoy, Rebecca's half-sister, were with child, "and that thervpon wee should haue young troopers" (PCR 4:7).
Under the 1682 settlement of her father's estate she received "a yeerling heiffer," and her sister Jane "one Cow & heifer" (MD 11:250). On 1 Jan 1693/4 her brother Samuel Delano sold her husband, for £14, his half of their grandfather William Pontus's share of land at Namasket (Middleborough) (Plym. Co. Deeds 1:312; MD 11:251-252).
