The widow Jemima Bennett who married Capt. Joel Ellis at Middleborough on 27 Mar 1758, as his second wife. In 1759 "Jemima Ellis the wife of the said Joel" released her dower in his gift to his sons Charles and Thomas.
Her maiden name Tupper, and her first husband Samuel Bennett, are compiled (Brownson and McLean, via Pane-Joyce). An earlier lead in the research, that Lucy (Bennett) Ellis was her daughter, was ruled out: Lucy was the daughter of Lt. Joseph Bennett Jr.
Open questions
- Her birth, parents and death.
