Of Windham County, Connecticut. "Ebenezer Humphrey & Lucy Robbins, June 19, 1781," married at the Second Church at Westford in Ashford (source). Humphreys (1883) says he was born, "according to some accounts," in Windham or Tolland County about 1725, or in Massachusetts, and married first Betsy —, by whom he had Ebenezer (later of Attica, New York) and Betsey (Mrs. Kingsbury); by Lucy, Joseph (1782) and John (about 1784, later of Pulaski County, Indiana). "There is a tradition that Ebenezer Humphrey had brothers in Massachusetts." The book puts him in a section headed "may belong to the Capt. Ebenezer Humphrey family, of Oxford, Massachusetts," a family "thought to be" from Arthur Humphrey of Woodstock (source). His parents are unknown.
