The ancestors of Frances Fairchild Holbrook, traced up through her Holbrook grandfather to Capt. Richard B. Holbrook and Harriet Phillips Low, and from them through every colonial line found so far, back to England, Scotland or Leiden where the records reach. Each line from a child to a parent is drawn in the strength of its evidence. Where the records differ from Mollie's typescript, the person's panel says how.
Click a person for the evidence. The round button on a box opens or closes that person's ancestors; the number is how many more are behind it. A dashed box is a person who appears twice in the tree because cousins married.
Every ancestor in the tree who crossed the Atlantic, in order of arrival, with where they came from as far as the records show. Children who came with their parents are listed with them. Click a name to see the person in the tree.

Notable ancestors are Frances's own direct ancestors whose lives stand out; each has a short life story and the line of descent down to Frances. The other groups are famous people who share an ancestor with Frances. Pick one of them to see Frances's line and theirs side by side, running down from the shared ancestor. The relationship shown first is the closest one; many of these people connect through several ancestors, and all of them are listed. Their side of each line comes from compiled sources (MayflowerHistory.com, printed family genealogies, WikiTree), so each carries an evidence grade like the rest of the tree.

Stories of ancestors who crossed paths, often generations before their families were joined by marriage, and other threads that run through the tree. Everything here comes from the records in each person's panel, where the evidence grades and full references are. Tap any underlined name to see that person in the tree.
Mollie Frances Holbrook Pfeiffer's typescript, all nine parts, checked claim by claim against the records. Page numbers are the typescript's own. Confirmed means a record or a sound compiled source agrees; corrected means the person is right but a fact is wrong; incorrect means the records contradict the claim or it rests on a link that fails. Mollie worked in the 1930s from the printed genealogies then available, and most of what is corrected here was already in those books. Nearly every family in this tree was first named to us by her.

What we are still trying to find out, and how far each search has got. Each investigation reads in order: the question, the documents found and what each one told us, how we put them together, where we stand now, and what we are working on next.
